I just realized that today is my half birthday.
(It’s also Nancy’s real birthday today. Happy birthday, Nancy!)
I’m in a birthday frame of mind, so naturally I started thinking about the big 3-0. As of today, it’s a year and a half away. Yikes. I still think of myself as being about 17. Or 6. Depends on if there are any good cartoons on. Or juice boxes available. In order to celebrate the idea that turning 30 isn’t so horrible (People are living longer! Medicine is getting better! I’m well moisturized!), I’ve decided to participate in the blogging meme, 30 before 30. Basically, I’m going to come up with 30 cool things to do before I turn 30. And then, I’m going to try and get them all done.
An awesome example is here.
This list might be a work in progress over the next month or so. But, hey, I have a year and a half. And I’m a pretty notorious procrastinator.
Here goes nothing!
Have drinks at Top of the Hub. Check- Run four more pikermis. Sortof check.
- Sew a quilt that I keep and use for myself.
- Swim with a dolphin. check
- Take Kristian on a picnic.
- Get another tattoo.
- Write a song about a completely ridiculous subject like canals or the industrial revolution.
- Go white-water rafting. check
- Make a Baked Alaska. Bonus points if I don’t ruin it.
- Attend an outdoor play.
- Participate in a day-long service project.
- Go on an overnight hike.
- Take my Dad to a Red Sox game. check
- Take my Mom to see a play or a musical.
- Snow shoe up a mountain.
- “Compete” in a triathlon (More like, finish one. I won’t be much of a competitor).
- Go skiing or snow-boarding. check
- Share a banana split with Kristian. check
- Read a “classic” book that I’ve never read before.
- Take my nephew on the Swan Boats.
- Build a bonfire on a beach somewhere.
- Surprise Kristian with freshly baked cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
- Offer to do family portraits for a friend.
- Play around on some monkey bars. Check
- Go see a Broadway (or off-Broadway!) play. Check
- Run in a relay race.
- Surprise someone with a care package. Check
- Purchase a sparkly outfit. Wear it to a random party.
- Organize a water balloon fight with some of my “grownup” friends.
- Paint a water-color.
I think you should write a song about the National Debt being on Twitter (@NationalDebt). Cause the debt, it’s on Twitter???
You’ll definitely have to let me know how the Baked Alaska goes. They look awesome, but daunting!
LOVE IT! Baked Alaska! I should have put that on my new list….maybe it will have to be a bonus item. =)
happy half-birthday!
hmm… want to climb Macchu Pichu with me? might count as an over night hike 😉
any other travel aspirations? national parks? arsmeets?
any career stuff?
I remember my half birthday because it’s the birthday of a friend too!

I like your list! I have one of these, too. But I’m down to 7 months to finish it.
I like your list a lot! You’ve got tons of time. I’m down to about 10 months myself. And I have to plan a wedding in that time. :p
