  • Number of cats who saw the vet today: 1
  • Number of techs needed to hold Tabitha down: 2

/me sends Hopers some virtual chocolate.

  2. Oh man, that sounds tough. I once asked Eric to drive down from Hartford just to help me take the cats to the vet because there was NO WAY I was doing it on the subway. Together, they weigh more than 30 squirmy pounds!

What usually works for getting them in the carrier is to either sneak up on them when they’re sleeping and stealthily scoop them up, or (and this is so cruel) act as if you’re feeding them, and scoop them up just before they get to the bowl. Then just never let go of them.

The other thing we learned with my grandmother’s cat (aka Satan) is that wrapping your arms in a towel and just going for it is sometimes the only way.

  3. Poor, poor Hope! More reasons why I’m glad I have dogs rather than cats. Hope, visit a health food store and get an herbal “calmer” named Rescue Remedy. It will make the trip more tolerable for the cats.
