It always seemed really unfair to me that Christmas decorations go up for a month, then the weather gets really shitty and we put them all away again. I mean, I know that we get to enjoy them until New Years or so, but I really think that it should be socially acceptable to leave your lights up until Memorial Day. Or at least until Presidents’ Day.
In case you couldn’t tell, I’m suffering a little bit from Christmas withdrawal. Even though we haven’t even celebrated with my Dad or his parents yet. I’m not such a fan of long winter nights without that merry twinkle of lights. And I’m not so much looking forward to taking down the tree.
Normally, January and February is one long blur of crappy weather, cold and slush. Luckily for me, this January I have my CDs to look forward to (they should get pressed around the middle of the month) and, in February, I have a couple of CD release parties. And maybe a visit to my sister in California to throw into the mix.
In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a much happier camper when I have something to look forward to.
Until then, I shall drink the leftover egg nog in our fridge (note to self: buying egg nog at Costco, even if you have 13 people for Christmas Dinner, is unnecessary.) We’re going to be drinking the stuff until at least Presidents’ Day.
Happy Boxing Day!
