Working for the Weekend

I love my job. I love my coworkers. I love the work that I do.

But I sure do love me some weekend decompression time. And full days with my baby.

Let’s not forget mornings where I don’t have to wake up at 5:30am to drive to work! I think I could spend an entire weekend letting people poke at me with pointy sticks and I’d be ok with it, as long as they let me sleep until 7am on Saturday and Sunday.

Any way you cut it, my weekends are all pretty great these days. But this was a particularly nice one.

I started Saturday off with a piping hot, fresh bagel from Brueggers.

Then, I got my hair cut and colored.

Then, my brother-in-law came over to babysit so I could spend some quality time with my husband.

Then, we went to a friend’s post-elopementcelebration.

They met at culinary school, so you know the food was amazing. They also had a pretty rad photobooth setup.

Lilian isn’t quite four months old yet, but she already does a fairly decent Violet Crawley impression.

She wishes she was a little bit taller, but she just might be a baller.

On Sunday, during the wee, small hours of the morning, Kristian took Lilian downstairs and let me sleep in until 9am. Which feels an awful lot like sleeping in until noon these days. It gave me just enough brain power to go to the Boston Public Library and get some research done. And by “research,” I mean, “take pictures of microfilm with my camera.”

(D0n’t judge).

(It’s not as easy as it sounds).

I’m still not sleeping enough. I fell asleep on the couch sometime around 8:45pm last night. Which is remarkable both for the fact that it was so darn early, and for the fact that I was in the middle of watching a football game. And I never miss a Pats game. It wasn’t even a commercial break. But, hey, I think my baby’s starting to sleep a little better?

At any rate, there’s always next weekend to look forward to.
