… Probably a girl?
Let’s just say that, for a child of mine, she is surprisingly modest. She must be taking after her Dad already. Although, just like me (and her Auntie Allison!), this kid can’t sit still. The technician kept saying “hold still! hold still!” but it was no use. She is bouncing off the walls in there.
The ultrasound tech said that she’s about 92% sure that Gummy Bear is a girl. It’s not exactly as definitive when there aren’t any boy bits to identify. But she was fairly sure that she was right.
Let’s also say that we’re not going to go out and buy a bunch of pink bedding for the nursery. (Even if we were 100% sure, I wouldn’t be buying pink bedding anyways). But I feel like I can comfortably refer to Gummy Bear as she.

It’s a little hard to tell in the photo, but she’s got her feet kicked up in the air and her hands relaxing behind her little head. Girlfriend is seriously chilling out in there.
The gender part of the anatomy scan was less than definitive, but everything else was pretty clear. Gummy Bear’s measurements are all perfect and her vital organs are all in the right places. They estimated her as weighing in at around seven ounces at the moment, which is right on track.
I’m so proud!
I’m 92% sure that I should be sending a coffee card to someone who guessed girl, which is good enough odds for me. If the technician hadn’t been able to guess at all, I would have chosen Kristina, who picked Unicorn. And if she’d been an actual unicorn? Well, I’d probably have been too busy trying to sell my story to the National Enquirer to remember to send out a coffee card. If it turns out that Gummy Bear is a boy, I’ll pick one of the boy guessers and send them a coffee card as well.
(The world could use more caffeine).

Nine people guessed girl. I picked one of them at random and the winner is…. Jen(nie)! Who has a toddler and could surely use some coffee. I will be sending her a gift card to the coffee shop of her choice.

Congrats! Girls make for a much calmer household (so I hear!) and they are so fun 🙂
FYI- a fun thing to do is to go to Golden View ultrasound in Brookline- because its about an hour long, and they verify the gender while getting a cool view of the face (since its 3D) I did it at 31 weeks and it was a great experience!
