So much good music this week!

So, I’ve been to two shows this week and will be going to a third one tonight. I’d say that makes for a very successful week. Kristian and I went and saw The English Beat on Tuesday night. And I saw my friend Anais Mitchell last night. Tonight Kristian and I are going to see Billy Bragg. I’m almost overwhelmed with how much good music that is.

Seeing the English Beat was a blast and a half. I love going to shows to see a band that hasn’t toured in a long ass time. There were people there who clearly haven’t been to a show since the 80’s. And they were loving it. I love seeing older people getting into the music, dancing up a storm, putting us whippersnappers to shame. The band was all into it as well. I love it when musician are clearly ecstatic to be playing. It was awesome.

Anais was pretty great too. She writes the most amazing songs, the songs that I wish that I could write. At times her voice becomes almost transcendent, it’s just so breathtaking in its beauty. I found myself getting caught up in the music. Before I knew it, the show was over. Her hourlong set was just way too short. For anyone who has a chance to, I would highly recommend that they go and see her. Or get her cd, which is equally amazing.

Tonight we’re going to see Billy Bragg. From everything that I’ve heard, he’s supposed to be amazing in concert. I’ll let y’all know tomorrow. Or whenever I get around to talking about it.

Sort of like a typical Pasta Fest, Hope? (Is “typical Pasta Fest* an oxymoron?)

Hmm… I hadn’t even thought of that! No wonder I loved the show so much. 😀
