So, What Did You Do Today?

This post brought to you by the letters A, R and M

So, what did we do today? Well, let’s see. We got up, ate some oatmeal, got some coffee, drove around Malden. And, oh, what was the other thing we did today?

That’s right, we put in an offer on a house. So, you know, same old, same old.

Perhaps we were a bit insane to put in an offer a week after we started looking. But, you know what? this place is perfect. Seriously. Ever since we looked at it, we haven’t been able to get it out of our heads. I can see myself living there. I really can. I have attempted to resist the urge to mentally decorate. But. It’s. Just. So. Haaaaaaaaard.

It doesn’t hurt that all of the other houses that are in our price range make the house from The Money Pit look well-maintained.

*Shudders*

This place is awesome. It’s a fixer upper, but, unlike any of the other places that we looked at, it’s in move-in condition. It needs work, but pretty much all of it is of the finishing touches variety. You know, replacing molding. And not, you know, replacing the roof. Or the hot water heater. Or the foundation. Because, we looked at places with some scary foundations. Painting I can handle. Replacing the roof? Not so much.

It’s a five bedroom house. Two of the bedrooms are in pretty rough shape. But, what the hell are we going to do with five bedrooms? That’s one for each of us, one for each cat and one left over. So, we’re going to leave the two bedrooms on the third floor in their raw stage and deal with them when we have more money. Which is not anytime soon. What with the whole buying a house thing and whatnot.

Of course, all of this is contingent on our offer being accepted. It’s a short sale, so there is a good chance that they people from the bank will douche out on us and say “NO WAI!” So, I’m trying not to get too excited.

I’m still mentally decorating. Oops.

Ps. We’re not getting an ARM. I promise.

  1. Holy crap, that’s so exciting! Good luck!!!

p.s. quilting room, get a pool table, have a nursery…

  2. WOW!!! And no you are not crazy, our house was the 4th or 5th that we looked at, and it was the same thing. We could not stop thinking about it. I’m keeping my fingers, legs, arms, toes all crossed for you!

  3. The Pastafarians will be happy to help you decorate. We’ll donate items from the annual Yankee swap.

Ugly porcelain masks; lobster shaped pot holders; lots of monkey things. Testaments to the truly tacky.

    Lucky you. *g*
