**Note: I started this post last week and then promptly got distracted by something shiny. Or something work-related. Or something work-related and shiny. I don’t know. I’m easily distracted. **
Well, I don’t get my LSAT scores until July 2, but I think that I did ok. I know that I finished 5 out of 6 of the sections 10-15 minutes early. Unless I was doing the test the Homer Simpson way (that would be the wrong way… but faster), I think that I should be in pretty good shape. Only the scores will tell for sure.
I must say, the whole LSAT taking experience was surreal, to say the least. I gave myself a lot of extra time to get there, in case I got stuck sitting on a Green Line train for half an hour (always a possibility with the MBTA). I arrived an hour early, which I thought would make me one of the first people there. Wrong. I walked into the BU Law School, and the lobby was almost completely full of wannabe lawyers. In fact, I was one of the last people to arrive. I guess that if you tell a bunch of anxious, Type A people to be somewhere at 12:30, the overwhelming majority of them are going to show up at 11.
The LSAC has cracked down recently on any actions that they perceive might lead to cheating. This means that you’re not allowed to bring backpacks or handbags into the test with you. You have to bring your wallet, keys, number 2 pencils and snack in a clear plastic ziploc bag. A process that is not unlike that of bringing liquids onto an airplane. This further reinforces my belief that most people perceive potential lawyers to be potential terrorists. After the previous statement, Homeland Security will probably be reading my blog now. I hope that they like pictures of cats and stories about falling into dishwashers.
Anyways, I carted my ziploc bag with my number two pencils and my snack into the elevator where a whole bunch of us went up to the fifteenth floor, where our assigned classroom was. It was a pretty claustrophobic experience and I’m sure that there is a lawyer joke in there somewhere (something along the lines of: what do you call an elevator full of prospective lawyers? a shark tank… but with more funny and less lame).
They checked my id, they fingerprinted me, they made sure that I wasn’t carrying any prohibited items like a cell phone, a compass or a slide rule. I almost brought my lucky slide rule with me, too. It’s a good thing that I forgot it at home. :p
The test itself went well. I already mentioned that I finished pretty much every section early… which is either a very good thing or a very bad thing. For the sake of me not worrying myself to death, I’m going to go with good thing. Only July 2nd will tell. Oh yes, and July 2nd is also the day when I get to have my two cavities filled. So, you just know that July 2nd is going to totally rock.
Woo! And yay!
Yay! You know, I got my scores a few days early….I think they were supposed to come out on a Monday and I got them the Friday prior. Just to make you more anxious. :o) I’m sure you did great.
I hope, and bet, you aced ’em!
Hoorays! I’m sure you did wonderfully, and I can’t wait to hear how much ass you kicked!
