If It Was Sox/Yankees/Mets My Head Might Have Exploded

We’re in DC visiting Jen(nie) and, once again, my insane Jen(nie) travel luck has shone down upon me.  I don’t know what sort of voodoo magic she does to make things run so smoothly, but she’d better keep it up.

I keep telling myself that I will never again travel anywhere that doesn’t have Jen(nie) at my destination. And then I forget and go other places and I get all confused when my baggage isn’t waiting for me at the carousel.

You see, when I visit Jen(nie), I never have to wait more than five minutes for my luggage. And, even then, I think that five minutes is kindof pushing it.

Today we got an added bonus… the shuttle bus that runs every 40 minutes showed up in about two. We got stuck in traffic, but even that was kind of fun.

How can traffic be fun, you might ask. Well, when everyone around you decides to make friends with everyone else and you get this bizarre multi-racial, inter-socio-economic happy funtime experience, it’s not so bad to be on a bus that’s not really going anywhere. It all started with people giving each other directions (a gift from the universe, you’d think that they were all reading my blog) and it became a discussion of life experiences, travel plans and sports.

If you think that it’s amazing to have a bunch of random people talking to each other so helpfully and cheerfully, it’s downright astounding to have a civil conversation between people who support the Pats, Jets, Saints and Ravens. That’s peace in the Middle East right there, it is.

And now we’re hanging out with Jen(nie) and Beans (if watching Beans sleep on the couch can be counted as hanging out), stuffed with tacos and anticipating pumpkin and apple pie. I’d say that’s the start of a good weekend, right there.
