After six months or so of doing very little in the way of real work on our house, we now have about a million projects going on. And we pretty much started them all in the past week. Because we’re insane. And we really enjoy living in a construction zone. And find great meaning and happiness in having every single square inch of our house covered in dust.

Also, I just might have house ADD.

Ooh look…. shiny!

Where was I? Oh yes, the house and its many projects. The biggest one is redoing the attic. Which we have Uncle Sam to thank for. It has literally been boarded up since last November, but with tax return (and first time home buyer) credit in hand, we’re gutting it completely, insulating the shit out of it and building it back up into a space that I’m actually going to want to spend time in.

We can rebuild it. We have the money. Better than it was before. Better, stronger, faster.

Or something like that.

If this renovation costs us six million dollars, I will cry. And then declare bankruptcy.

In addition to the attic of impending awesomeness, we also have the deck of imminent paint job, the office of partial demolition and about a gazillion other things going on. I’m in the process of priming the deck. At the rate that I’m going, it will have actual paint on it sometime in October. But it sure will be pretty! Kristian, being smarter than me in many, many ways, called dibs on staining the decking and he should be done sometime in the next couple of days. I’d hate him, if he wasn’t so darn adorable.

Don’t get me started on all of the other things that I would like to get accomplished. I get all teary just thinking about the naked drywall on our sun-porch and all of the closets in our house that were never framed out and don’t have real floors.

Speaking of closets, mine apparently has a light in it! I always wondered what that switch was for. And now I know that it was for a busted fluorescent light. The electrician who has been redoing the wiring in our attic has found all sorts of interesting little things like my broken closet light. And outlets being used in all sorts of creative and dangerous fashions. He walks around our house shaking his head and laughing to himself. And then he tacks on another day to rip out bad wiring and replace faulty switches.

Our house, now with 100% fewer fire hazards.

I love our electrician in a purely platonic but completely serious way. Although I do suspect that, when he’s done, we’re going to owe him our first born child.

I’ll put some pictures up to show the progress when I’ve had some time to actually take photos, process them and upload them. But right now, I am oh so very tired. Kristian and I have been supplanted from our bedroom because the contents of my closet are currently located on top of the bed (I’m so glad that I cleaned and organized that mofo last weekend) and so I now prepare to pass the fuck out in our guest room.

Good night.
