The Finished Product

It was down to the wire (when is it not down to the wire with my projects?), but I finished my quilt today. I spent an enjoyable few hours sitting on the couch, catching up on old episodes of the Closer and hand sewing down the edges.

Here is the finished product:

The happy new parents loved the quilt. And, while I intended for it to coordinate with the color scheme in their nursery, I somehow managed to make it look like it was designed specifically to go with their bedding set and paint colors. It matches everything in the crib (right down to the polkadots) and the color of the little animal squares is the same yellow as the wall. Literally. I held it up to see.

I almost wish that it didn’t match so well… now it looks store bought and not homemade!

We spent all evening hanging out with them and watching the Lord of the Rings on tv. I think I held their son for about 2-3 hours. Which, even though he’s only two days old, they swore up and down that they didn’t mind. I’m thinking that they were looking forward to a long night of not so much sleep and a lot of feeding him and figured that they could use the rest. Not a bad way of thinking, really. I called myself the baby barcolounger.

As soon as I get my craft room setup, I’m totally going to make a bazillion baby quilts. I forgot how much fun they are!
