Does this drive anyone else totally bonkers, or is it just me? You’re walking along, minding your own business, when suddenly you see some pedestrian run out into traffic like a crazed squirrel with a death wish. They usually throw their arms up, as if to ward of the incoming cars. Cars who have green lights. Cars who have no choice but to yield to some crazy person who couldn’t be bothered to wait 7 seconds for the walk signal.
Sure, the cars might have the right of way, but it is generally frowned upon to not stop for people who are smaller and squishier than your vehicle.Â
I generally stay on the curb, scratching my head in confusion and waiting for the light to change before I cross.
I usually don’t have to wait very long.
I saw a guy just randomly crossing like 10 yards from the light. Rather than walk to the light, he just walked out into the street, crossed two lanes of traffic one way, and then had to stand in the turning lane and wait for the two lanes of other traffic to pass. I kept wondering WTF he didn’t just cross at the light….
Dude! Remind me what state you live in? Because here in PA, pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way, assholes.
1. Note to pedestrians. You may have the right of way, and I’m happy to yield to you, but you don’t have a forcefield. Leave enough time for an oncoming car to stop.
2. Another note to pedestrians. You are not Jedi. Holding a hand up at me does not make me or my car automatically stop.
