This week has somehow conspired to make my crazier than a post-partum Britney Spears. You know, shaving-her-head-hitting-cars-with-umbrellas Britney. My hair is intact and Kristian took away my umbrella, but methinks that I should probably stay away from Cheetos. Just to be safe.
It all started with Kristian having pager duty. Late night pager duty. The pager duty that keeps him up from 2am until it’s time to go to work in the morning. So, he’s sleeping in the guest room. I’m not sleeping without him in our room and we’re both grumpier than a couple of bears woken up out of hibernation.
Awesome.
Add in classes starting up today, my inbox filling up with training requests, a key system on campus going down just when we needed it most and oh, let’s say, twenty-two AV installs over the break. Looks like a recipe for happiness and success to me! Also, me staying at work until 9pm on Monday night. There is nothing like leaving work only to realize that you have to be back in less than twelve hours.
To top it all off, I had the brilliant idea of going to the dentist during my lunch break today. Nothing says “relax away from work” like having someone attack your teeth and gums with sharp metal objects. And then spending the rest of your day with inflamed gums and sore teeth. Also, there was something about the gums under my bottom front teeth receding. I believe that the hygienist used the words “grafts from your palette.” I can’t be sure. I was too busy screaming in the inside at the thought of oral surgery.
But, hey, life isn’t all bleeding gums and pissed off faculty members.
On a positive note, I spent a lot less time spitting out blood during this teeth cleaning than I have in the past. Definitely a good thing. And the hygienist said that my teeth and gums look fantastic and that she’s very proud of me. Validation, I craves it.
Let’s all cross our fingers that the dentist looks at my x-rays and goes “No cavities. See you in six months!” I would throw a party. No taffy though. Why tempt fate? Floss makes an excellent party favor, yes?
And, Kristian and I took advantage of our failing economy and the end of the winter season (it might be below freezing this week, but it’s after Christmas and apparently that means that winter is over, dammit) to go out and get me a brand new down coat. My old one had settled a bit. It was nice and warm around the hips, but my shoulders pretty much froze solid. My new coat is warm everywhere. And it’s super cute. It’s also white, which is pretty much a recipe for disaster. I’m looking forward to proving that I’m an adult now and can keep my things clean.
Kristian says I’m not allowed to have any chocolate ice cream while wearing it.
This week is looking better already!
Sleep deprivation brings out a unique kind of crazy. I hope things settle down quickly for you!
I was starting to think my company had done something to earn bad tech karma, but it looks like everyone else is having one of those weeks too. Hope things get better!
