Interview with the Hopester

Jen over at Free and Flawed answered some interview questions last week and then she asked if anyone would like to be interviewed by her. Jen is one of my favorite bloggers, how could I say no? Besides, I am a total attention whore.

Here are le rules:

1. If you want to participate, leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.” (And your e-mail address, please.)
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

1) What do you want readers of your blog to ‘DO’ after reading your blog? Well, I would hope that they don’t run around screaming “unclean! unclean!” while dousing themselves with bleach. Or make mental notes to never read my lame, boring blog ever again. Mostly, I just hope that they leave nice comments. And, if I’m promoting some musical related venture, I hope that they go out and do whatever it is that I’m promoting them to do. Like buy my CD. Or come see me play live. It would be pretty cool if they would randomly send me chocolate, but I’m not holding my breath.

2) If you could have dinner with four people (dead, alive, famous or not) who would they be? This is a tough one. History is rife with fascinating people who would be excellent dinner guests. I would have to say Dwight Eisenhower (in non-rotting, non-zombified form if you please), Oscar Wilde (ditto), Jane Austen (ditto x2) and Warren Buffett. Why? Well, I think that they would all have interesting things to say, that they wouldn’t interrupt each other and that none of them would start a food fight. I find Dwight Eisenhower more and more fascinating the more I read about him. He seems like he was a really intelligent man, full of common sense. Oscar Wilde was, from all accounts, a witty conversationalist and he seems like he was a lot of fun. Jane Austen wrote a couple of my favorite books and she was definitely ahead of her times. I’d love to get her take on modern day feminism and also on Britney Spears. Warren Buffett is a brilliant man with great ideas. Plus, I could probably convince him to pick up the check!

3) In 2008, what was your biggest achievement, and what was your biggest disappointment? My biggest achievement was definitely getting my album done. It’s been a long journey, but I can see the end of it. I am full to the brim with pride over how it turned out. I’m not sure what my biggest disappointment was. I’m sure that I had disappointments, but it was a pretty positive year. I can’t look back on much of 2008 and say, “wow that really sucked.” I guess that I must admit to being disappointed that Kristian and I probably won’t be getting married anytime soon. But, hey, we bought a house so I’m not complaining (too much).

4) If you were President, what’s the first thing you would change? Well, that depends… Are we in pure hypotheticals? Or do I actually have to work within our country’s legal framework? If this is pure imagination, I would legalize gay marriage. If I have to be somewhat realistic, I would work really fucking hard to undo the damage to our civil liberties that was inflicted on this country by eight years of Bush and Cheney fear-mongering. Even if I got to wave my magic wand to legalize gay marriage, I would hope that I got a second shot so that I could heal our civil liberties. Oh, and I would attempt to make my birthday a national holiday. 😉

5) Would YOU read your blog? Hells yeah! Don’t you?

So, who wants me to ask them some questions?
