  • Thanks! You rock for providing an idea for my post for today, I’m back at work and I’m pretty sure that my brain oozed out my ears and onto my keyboard. Needless to say the creative juices are not flowing. Here is the link: http://monkeysblog.com/2008/12/29/a-survey-of-2008/

  • 1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
Got a tattoo. Visited California. Had a colonoscopy. (Hey, you asked!)

    2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don’t actually make resolutions. I target goals. I hit some (see above), missed some. All in all, I’m happy. I’ll start thinking of some things I’d like to do in 2009.

    3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Two co-workers gave birth to healthy babies. Yay!

    4. Did anyone close to you die?
Unfortunately, my friend’s father passed away yesterday. He was a sweet man who taught me to play 3 Card Poker, cooked fabulous lemon chicken, and danced with me at my party. He’d been ill for several months and his passing eased his pain. R.I.P. George

    5. What countries did you visit? No other countries, but I went to California, like I said.

    6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
I would like to get a new car. Root for me to win the Mercedes that the Red Cross is giving away.

    7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 5th because of my birthday party. November 11th for the election. Sadly, July 16th and November 13th for the 25th and 10th anniversaries (respectively) of Dad and Mom’s deaths.

    8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? It’s actually the culmination of a major project begun in 2007 that continued in 2008. I’ve seen the fine cuts of an 8-episode documentary series that focuses on our facility and some wild pods in the Bahamas. This is slated to air on Animal Planet UK in 2009. I worked harder on it than anything else I’ve ever done, as did all of my co-workers. We’re very proud of the results.

    9. What was your biggest failure? Failure to stick to weightloss and fitness goals

    10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I went through a bout of anemia and some wacky thyroid readings but we seem to have corrected these problems.

    11. What was the best thing you bought? All of the stuff for my renovated bathroom!

    12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
    President-elect Obama!

    13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? That woman in FL who most probably killed her little girl. The man in California who dressed up in a Santa suit and murdered so many people.

    14. Where did most of your money go? Bathroom renovation, but it’s worth it!

    15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? That documentary. The bathroom remodel. My trip to California. My party.

    16. What song will always remind you of 2008? Can’t think of one!

    17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
    a) happier or sadder? About the same
    b) thinner or fatter? Fatter
    c) richer or poorer? Definitely less money.

    18. What do you wish you’d done more of? Exercised

    19. What do you wish you’d done less of? Wish I’d eaten less junk.

    20. How did you spend Christmas? With my family!

    21. Did you fall in love in 2008? Nope

    22. What was your favorite TV program? I love watching Dancing with the Stars. There. I admit it.

    23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? No. There are people I can’t bring myself to like and embrace, but hate is too harsh. It hurts me to hate.

    24. What was the best book you read? Hahahahahaha. As if I could pick just one.

    25. What was your greatest musical discovery? Umm… Let me think on that one.

    26. What did you want and get? A mini-notebook PC

    27. What did you want and not get? A car.

    28. What was your favorite film of this year? Frost-Nixon was probably the best. However, I thought Mama Mia was a lot of fun.

    29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I threw myself a 50th birthday party. Wish I could have invited everyone in the universe, but budget wouldn’t allow.

    30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Other than a few aspects, I’m pretty satisfied with the good live I enjoy.

    31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Keys casual

    32. What kept you sane? Balance, faith, my dogs, good friends.

    33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig.

    34. What political issue stirred you the most? I’m appalled that Florida voted to define legal marriage.

    35. Who did you miss? My folks.

    37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008. This is my new epiphany: You’ll never know to what heights you can climb if you don’t ever visit the mountain.

    38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. There is freedom within; there is freedom without. Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup.
