The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same

I started my new job today!

What? A new job?

I got a new job within our department.

Yeah… I should have said something before, but I didn’t want to before anything was official. But, the official letter came in the mail. It doesn’t get much more official than that.

I should add, however that my official letter stated that my hourly salary would be $1666.67 an hour. Cha-ching! Bank error in my favor! Pass go! collect $200! I’ll work five hours a week and retire at thirty! I’ll hire a butler! And a butler for my butler! Maybe a small child to follow me around and refill whatever I’m drinking. And I’m totally buying some new shoes.

Sigh…

I did the right thing and let HR know about their mistake. They’re not quite sure where that number came from, but they were going to fix it. Darn. I don’t know why they can’t just let things stand as they are for a few weeks. Just enough for me to buy one of these, one of these, some bling. And, of course, shoes.

So far, the new job hasn’t been that different. I’m still in the same office, with the same phone number, same email address, most of the same job responsibilities. They haven’t hired my replacement yet, so I’m still covering two of my departments. And doing my Help Desk shift.

So, uh, who wants to apply for my job? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

  1. Not to worry…the job will change before you know it and you won’t ever remember the OLD job at all. And I hear that your new boss is SO MUCH nicer than your old boss!!

  2. YAY! now when do we get to celebrate with CAKE?!?!
