Live Blogging Jenn(ie)’s Wedding

10:30AM: Welcome to DC! Kristian and I got in late last night and are now enjoying tea/coffee and toast while we wait for our host to get back. Jenn(ie)’s wedding is in five and a half hours.

A family friend was nice enough to put us up for the weekend. He had plans last night, but still made us feel totally welcome.

Witness:

There were two cupcakes, but we ate one as a midnight snack.

Once again, a trip to see Jenn(ie) went ridiculously well. Our flight was a breeze, we got beverage service AND pretzels and our luggage was waiting for us when we got to the carousel. Note to self: never fly anywher again, unless it’s to see Jenn(ie).

Riding the Metro last night was an interesting experience, to say the least, because everyone was in costume. There were some people that I hoped were in costume… Like the woman in the tinfoil hat and the woman in the green velvet cloak. Neither of them looked particularly celebratory, so, ummm, yikes.

11:00AM Jenn(ie) is still answering emails. I just crowned her Queen Dork. Long may she reign.

12:30PM: I bought new shoes for the wedding and they are tall. Very tall. Wish me luck in not breaking an ankle.

2:00PM: Dan dropped us off in Georgetown and we’re getting brunch. I ordered a mimosa. Is it rude to drink before a wedding? I think the OJ makes it socially acceptable. Our waiter is all kinds of awkward. He just took our our order and said, “Ok I’ll see you guys later.”

There are some out of control kids at the next table over. Their moms are drinking cosmos. If I had kids like that I too would be drinking heavily.

Kristian just pointed out that adult beverages + catholic mass = oh lordy lord please don’t let us fall asleep. My happiness and excitement for Jenn(ie) will keep me alert.

I’m pretty sure that brunch is supposed to take more than twenty minutes. I guess we were hungry or something. This would be a lot more enjoyable if I wasn’t wearing foundation garments. And if those kids would shut up.

4:00PM: The wedding was beautiful. Jenn(ie) looks fantastic. Good call on the waterproof mascara.

4:20PM: We’re on the shuttle bus to the reception. I’m watching two people who don’t know each other and who are now sharing a seat flirt with each other. It’s kindof hilarious. I so do not miss attending weddings solo.

7:00PM: This whole live updating thing got to be too much work. But I have to brag about the fact that I just got Jenn(ie) with my camera flash during her first dance. Totally cracked her up. I rule.

  1. That sounds so nice, and the church is beautiful. Hehehe, foundation garments. Also nice shoes, but not in that way. 😉

  2. I love the shoes! And it was so wonderful to see you and Kristian!!!! I’m glad that you guys had fun at the wedding! Damian and I are still (ahem) recovering from both the wedding and the honeymoon (ahem, that’s all I’ll say, gotta keep it PG) 😉
