MBTA Update

I guess it’s satisfying. Somewhat.

“Dear Ms. Hope:

Thank you for your email regarding the discourteous operator on bus route 101.  We appreciate hearing from you and we sincerely apologize for the operator’s behavior.  There is no excuse for it.

We assure you that we do not tolerate this type of behavior.   The type of behavior you describe goes against all the operator’s training.

The operator will be identified, interviewed and re-instructed on our courtesy policy and will be send to class for courtesy.

Any further infractions may result in more severe disciplinary action.  The MBTA has a progressive disciplinary policy, up to and including termination.

The MBTA expects employees to run trips on time.  There are occasions, however, when unforeseeable delays may occur due to construction, heavy traffic, accidents, adverse weather conditions, etc. We make every effort to adjust service to minimize these delays.   I will have a chief Inspector up there in the morning to monitor this route so I can forward something to our Service Planning Dept.

Again, we apologize for the operator’s actions.  Thank you again for writing.

Unfortunately, the font and size changes in it lead me to think that it was a cut and paste job. Sigh.

“forward something to our Service Planning Dept.” If that doesn’t sound like effective problem solving I’ll eat a bunch of Oreos, Ms. Hope.

    Now if you’ll excuse me…
    crunch
    crunch
    crunch
    Mmmm, Oreos!

  2. I don’t know, Hope, it sounds like they listened to you and will take action. They acknowledge there is no excuse for the driver’s action and detail steps that will be taken. It will be really interesting to see if that driver is behind the wheel the next time you take that bus.
