After spending 2+ weeks running around like a chicken with its head cut off at work, it’s been truly wonderful this morning to do nothing more than lay around on our couch. And, oh, what a couch it is. It’s the kind of couch that you sit down on and then, three hours later, you still can’t get up.
It has a built-in chaise. ‘Nuff said.
I thought that I was being this great girlfriend this morning by getting up early and making pancake batter. I figured that Kristian would come downstairs and that we would then make pancakes together using the peaches that we picked last weekend. A tender, special moment brought on by my inability to sleep past 8:30 in the morning.
Yeah, I failed to read a crucial line in the recipe.
“Let rest for 2 hours.”
Whoops. We both enjoyed some cereal and it looks like we’ll be having pancakes for lunch. In the meantime? I will be lying on the couch like the sluggiest slug who ever slugged for a living. At least until Kristian finally manages to get me to finish up the gardening that I should really do before the storms hit later today. That will probably happen sooner than later. It’s already rained once today.
What is your favorite way to spend a weekend relaxing?
We have a couch with a chaise too. Which is actually kind of hard to get out of even when you do want to.
I slept until 11:30, thanks to my insomnia keeping me up until 3 before I broke down and took a sleeping pill. I’m heading to Starbucks, and then to the hardware store to buy painting supplies.
