It’s Saturday night and I’m on the couch, hanging out with the cats and depositing a metric ton of snot into a half acre worth of tissues. I figure, if I’m going to be lame, I’ll be lame in style and post a nice little photo update.
Christmas went better than I ever expected that it would. Scheduling and family issues worked themselves out at the last minute and we were all on our best behavior. I didn’t have to break out the peppermint schnapps to tune everyone out and I didn’t have to whittle down a candy cane to stab anyone in self defense. And, really, anything beyond that is just icing on the cake.
So, without further ado, I present my 2006 Christmas in picture form with lame captions.
Cue the Charlie Brown Christmas music…

Lu lu lu, lu lu lu lu lu… It’s a Charlie Brown Christmas tree! No! It’s a branch! Masquerading as a tree!

Every year, my sisters and I fight over who can get their apple highest up on the tree (yes, we are that immature). From all outward appearances, it would seem that I lost this year. And yet…

What’s this? My apple? On the top of the tree in our apartment? A good 4-5 feet above the Charlie Brown tree? Ha! Call me immature if you’d like, but I win. Neener. Neener. Neener.
My god, we’re going to be in our 80’s and one of us is going to break a hip trying to get our apple to the very top of our genetically modified 30 foot tall tree. Note to self: have very, very tall grandchildren…”

For some reason, my sister still trusts me to look after my nephew…

…Probably because I make such an excellent pillow.

My Brother-In-Law and his Mini Me

“I’m smiling because I’m about to steal your adorable baby.”

Just because you’re 91 years old, that’s no excuse for slacking. Now get out there! (Brooklyn, yo.)

My nephew might be a little too young to appreciate his Christmas presents, but he sure does love the wrapping paper. (Delicious! And high in fiber!)

No muppets were harmed in the making of this photo.

Christmas is, like, so totally emo.

“Mom bought us all gift certificate for electrolysis? Hooray!”

Taken moments before they passed out in front of the football game…
