Happy New Years!

Welcome to 2009, everyone! I’m probably going to forget and keep writing 2008 on everything for the next few weeks. I are smart like that.

Kristian and I went to an awesome New Years party last night. Due to the snow and the cold and my general state of misanthropy these days, I wasn’t sure how excited I was to be going out. But, it was New Years and I didn’t feel like spending it on the couch. Plus, we apparently haven’t seen those friends since last summer and that is just tragic. So, into Boston we drove. I even made cupcakes to take along.

I’m glad that we went, because we ended up having a fantastic time! It really is lame that we’ve gone so long without seeing those friends. They’re a ton of fun and they made us feel really welcome. My cupcakes went over really well (when have people ever not appreciated it when you show up bearing baked goods?) and everyone liked my shoes. And we all know that I judge my evenings by wether or not people appreciate my shoes.

We ended up staying until some time around 3:30 in the morning. Which is super late for us. It’s, like, the Hope and Kristian equivalent of staying up for 48 hours straights. Except, instead of being fueled by meth or coke, it was fueled by cupcakes and an exciting flip cup tournament. The girls soundly beat the boys by something like 6 games to 3. I’m sure that it has nothing to do with the fact that one of the guys was so drunk he could barely find the cup in front of me. No, it’s faaaar more likely that we just kick that much ass.

We finally climbed into bed sometime around 4am. Kristian is feeling fine and dandy like sour candy today, because he slept until noon. I, on the other hand, woke up sometime around 8 or 9am and couldn’t fall back asleep. I’m sure that it had absolutely nothing to do with the massive snored emanating from the other side of the bed.

It’s ok, he more than made up for it with french toast and cream of wheat when he finally emerged from Sleepy Town.

So, how was your New Years?

  1. Happy New Year, Hope & Kristian! I stayed home with the pups instead of going out. It isn’t that I didn’t want to be social — I was tired! LOL
