Funemployed

Funemployed

For the first time in my adult life, I don’t have a full-time job.

Perks of unemployment: lunches out with my favorite daughter

We always knew that our move to France might mean that I couldn’t stay on at my job. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to work things out with them. So, I’m going to freelance while I plug away at my french paperwork.

I’m working towards getting my Carte de Sejour (a residency card). This will give me a lot more employment options. Until then, I’m going to take advantage of my free time to work on craft projects, workout (I signed up for the unlimited package at my local aerial studio!), hang out with my daughter, play music, and explore France. Not necessarily in that order.

I keep telling people that I’m going to put the “fun” in “funemployed.”

It’s exciting and scary to be charting a new course. Work was one of the last things that had remained relatively constant. And, you know, it’s nice to have things like rent money and food. But, hey, the cost of living here is a lot lower than back in the US. And things like taking the dog for long walks are totally free. We’d planned for this, so please don’t worry about me.

Lilian has half days on Wednesday, so I usually meet her for lunch before she heads back to school for drama club. Today, we were able to take an extra long lunch together. And, when she gets back, we’re going to go for a run along the river.

Hopefully, the extra free time will let me write more blog posts and create fun content. What would you all like to see more of?
