Métro, Boulot, Dodo

The French have a lovely phrase, “Métro, boulot, dodo.” It (basically) means, “train, work, sleepy-time.” (dodo is the childish way of saying bedtime). It’s a distinctly French way of saying same-old, same-old. I go to work, I work, I go home and sleep.

Which, incidentally, is how I’ve felt the last week or so.

It’s not a bad life. I’ve been relatively happy. And I know that I have lots of exciting things in my future. It would just make for a seriously boring blog post. I have no wish to be this guy from XKCD.

Oh, shit. French. It’s too late!

“Today, I bought cute new containers to pack my lunches in! They’re shaped like apples!”

“Today, I did the elliptical for 45 whole minutes! Boy oh boy did I get my heart rate up!”

“Today, I met with a friend about ordering papel picados for our wedding!”

Ok, so here’s the deal. I need you to help snap me out of my rut. Ask me some questions. Tell me some things that you’d like me to talk about. At least, if it’s a request, I’ll feel like I’m not wasting everyone’s time. I mean, someone wanted to know.

I like to pride myself on my ability to write somewhat entertainingly on almost any topic, but I just can’t bring myself to tell you all what I had for dinner last night.

(Spoiler alert! It was chicken soup!)

So, go ahead, ask me anything. I might even answer you.

Yes, but you never apologize on your blog for not posting. Or tell us all about your dreams.

Besides, your blog is hilariously entertaining! Lori = The opposite of boring.

Hope, I’d like to hear something about your songwriting process. What comes to you first — music or lyrics? Sometimes both? Sometimes one but other times the other? If it’s lyrics, do actual lines come to you or does the story of a song suggest itself and you then search for the lines?
