Not So Secretly Craving Starbucks

There are two things that I currently have a love/hate relationship with. Those would be Starbucks and Christmas Creep. I hate Starbucks and the fact that we saw a million of them all over the damn place in NYC and no alternatives. I hate their business practices. I hate their snooty terminology.

I also hate Christmas Creep and the fact that it turns me into a scrooge when I see Christmas decorations pre-Thanksgiving. Christmas should be fun, but the realtors have sucked all of the joy out of it.

And yet… I am sitting here craving not just a latte from Starbucks, but one of those holiday themed lattes from Starbucks with peppermint and whipped cream and sprinkles. Possibly served in a whimsical holiday mug. With a gingerbread man.

What in the hell is wrong with me?

  1. pre-thanksgiving?! what about pre-halloween! did the trip to the natick collections scare you for life?

    i am still shaking!!

  2. Hope

So true! So terrified! So still want a (decaf) latte!

  3. Red Starbucks cups are the only thing I don’t mind seeing before Thanksgiving. Christmas music in stores and decorated trees annoy me, but I can’t help but love holiday Starbucks.

Personally, I have to give Starbucks some credit for including freethought quotes on their cups. Since I live in the Bible Belt, I usually see lots of religious stuff, but very little ever questioning religion, recognizing homosexuality, or anything else out of the “mainstream”. I was a little impressed they went there.

  4. Starbucks… so expensive. so trendy. so… delicious…

The only Christmas thing I am okay with seeing before Thanksgiving is eggnog. Mmmm, dreadfully unhealthy.

  5. I must admit that do get excited after Halloween over my guilty Starbucks pleasure of peppermint hot chocolate. Though that’s the only thing Christmasy that I enjoy seeing before Thanksgiving. I’m waiting for the day when Christmas stuff starts showing up before Halloween.
