Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s been a while. Kristian and I went camping in the Connecticut Lakes region, where there was no cell phone service, internet or showers. It was awesome. In a stinky, can’t-update-my-blog sort of way. But, now we’re back and Kristian is watching 24 and it seems like the perfect time to end my California adventures recap.
Note: The perfect time to finish this entry was apparently a few weeks later. I am a world class procrastinator.
Sunday Morning
Sunday was a lazy day. A very lazy day. The kind of day where I’m not sure if I actually left the house or not. That’s a lie, we went to REI. But, I’m getting ahead of myself.
Sunday morning, Allison started reading Harry Potter. Both she and Allison had to work that day, so I decided to make myself useful by cooking up the bag of peaches that we had brought home the day before. I made a big batch of peach chutney and some peach/orange jam. It was a rather peachy day! Ouch.
Sunday Afternoon
More peaches.
Sunday Evening
…Still more peaches. And possibly some internet time. Oh yeah, and we went to REI for friends and family night and I spent a lot of money on Chacos, a Timbuktu bag, a life vest (that was fun to try and fit into my duffel bag!) and various other outdoorsy type items. I believe that there were also some luna bars involved.
Monday Morning
We hung out all day. There was some more cooking and some more internet time. The thing that I like the most about Allison and Dustin is that we can hang out and do nothing and it’s still a ton of fun. It doesn’t hurt that they live in a lovely little house in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.
Monday Evening
We took a drive over to Pasadena to do some shopping and to grab dinner. Allison and I went to H&M. Because, you know, they don’t have those here in Boston. :p Dustin was very patient as we walked around and looked at shoes. We went to a family style restaurant where they have pictures on the walls of nuns in bumper cars. Good times.
Tuesday
We were going to go to the Getty Museum, but we settled for one last smoothie and getting to the airport in time. You know, because if you get to the airport less than 17 hours in advance, the terrorists have won, or something like that. I made it through security and had enough time for a latte and half of a novel. I then sat on a plane with about 10 children under the age of five. I wish that I was kidding, but I’m not. Thank heavens for headphones. There really should be a limit to the number of small children allowed on one plane. And, if they go over quota, all of us poor suckers stuck back in coach should get complimentary cocktails.
So, to wrap things up, it was an awesome week, I can’t believe that I didn’t fight with my sister and I could really go for a smoothie right about now.
no getty? you know this is grounds for disownment in my family 😛
