Attack of the Killer Squirrels!

So, we had some people come in to the lab today complaining about a squirrel outside that was “making funny noises.”

I went outside to investigate and I found this squirrel clinging to a tree and squeaking like my old dog’s favorite chew toy. To say that it was bizarre would be a bit of an understatement.

So, what did I do? To cover our butts, I called Campus Safety to report our suspicious squirrel. The conversation went something like this:

Campus Safety Operator: How can I help you?
Me: This is going to sound a bit bizarre but….
CCO: Yes?
Me: Well, some people have been complaining that there is a squirrel outside our lab making funny noises.
CCO: There is a squirrel making funny noises?
Me: Yes.
CCO: A squirrel making funny noises?
Me: Yes.
CCO [barely restraining her laughter]: We’ll send someone over to investigate your suspicious squirrel.
Me: Thanks.

I went home for lunch and when I came back the squirrel was gone. I don’t know if the campus cops told him to stop loitering or if he just found another tree to make his suspicious noises from.

Hey, it could have been worse. We could have been attacked by Mooninites!

  1. Hi!

But how big is that squirrel??!! Bigger than a big cat?
I’ve ever only seen tiny cute ones, tiny as in max 20 cm long with its tale…

    I’d be scared… 🙂
