The Barnes Supremacy

Note: I wrote this last night when I didn’t have internet access.

Kristian and I are staying with his cousin in Barnes. I like this family on principle, because they have Sky Sports, which means that I can watch the Patriots game tonight. Yes, I’m in London and I’m excited about watching an American Football game (which, btw, starts at 11:30pm local time). What can I say? I’m a Boston sports fan. This makes me, by definition, insane.

Even if Kristian’s cousins didn’t have football, I would still like them. They’ve very graciously welcomed us into their home and have made us feel incredibly welcome. They fed us a delicious dinner and are putting us up, probably for the rest of the time that we’re here in London. I’m so very grateful.

Yesterday, we stayed with some friends (Charles and ) that we met on Ars Technica. They very kindly picked us up from the airport, fed us tea, took us out for a night on the town, put us up in our own room and then fed us one of the most delicious breakfasts that I can remember eating in a long time. Once again, I’m so very grateful.

I suppose that if you were to say, “yeah we met some people on the internet and then we flew across the ocean and spent the night with them,” it sounds a bit sketchy. I guess that there was a chance that they were arsenic-wielding serial killers who enjoy offing Americans and then burying them out back under the rose bushes. But, you know, anybody could be an arsenic wielding serial killer. Sometimes you just have to trust people.

Considering the fact that neither of us was able to sleep more than a couple of hours on Friday/Saturday, I was amazed that we stayed out past midnight last night. I guess it’s easier to stay up when you are hanging out with fun people.

More later after I’ve had some real sleep! :p
