Hooray! Thirty posts in thirty days! I know that it wasn’t really a contest, but I still feel like a winner.
Some of my posts were lame. A couple were only a few sentences long. But there was more than one time when I sat down to write something, anything, and was pleasantly surprised at the results. I found the process of sitting down to write every day to be extremely edifying. I hope that the overall quality of my blog will go up as a result of participating.
Speaking of winners, Kristian won a free guitar last night. I was performing at an open mic night and they had a special promotion going on. If you bought a 22 oz. Sam Adams, you got a raffle ticket to win a free guitar. We figured we had a pretty good chance of winning, because you had to be present to win (they had been giving raffle tickets out all month), and there weren’t many people there besides for me, my friends and the other musicians.
I figured that they would draw out a few ineligible names and that, if we were lucky, they might draw the name of one of my friends (who had all kindly agreed to drink Sam Adams that night).
Imagine our surprise when the first name that they drew was Kristian’s!
The best part? Kristian was in the bathroom when they drew his name. So, our whole table was cheering that he won and the host said, “where is he?” When he realized that K was in the bathroom, he told everyone to cheer for him when he got back. So, K walked back into the room and then all of a sudden everyone erupted into applause. The look on his face was priceless!
It’s actually a fairly nice Taylor (The 307 model, for those of you who give a crap about guitars). It’s going to be Kristian’s guitar and not mine. Because, even though I paid the bar bills, Kristian was the one who actually drank the beer. Plus, I already have quite a few guitars.
On a random note, check out the “creative” graffiti that I saw in the women’s room last night. Sometimes, I weep for the future.
