Today marks the last year of Kristian’s 40s.

(Shhhh, don’t tell him that I told you that!)
We’re not quite at “have spent half of our lives together” yet, but it’s getting close.
I still remember the party that I threw for him when he turned 30. It involved quite a bit of maneuvering on my part to get him out of pager duty (and he almost sunk all of my plans by initially refusing to switch shifts). I got everyone to gather at my mom’s house, and they all yelled “surprise!” when he walked in the door.
“Oh,” he said, “cool.”
My husband is definitely Mr. Understated.
Happy Birthday, Kristian! I can’t think of anyone else I’d rather move across the ocean with. Thank you for always being there for our family, for always being the first person to notice when something needs to get fixed, and for never being afraid to step in and make stuff happen. I love going on adventures with you, because you’re not afraid to try new things. And I always feel safe on our adventures, because you take the time to do your research.
I love you to the moon and back.
