I’m feeling uninspired today, so I slacked off and let Dustin choose today’s blog-off topic. He chose “things that you want to do before the year is done.” Now I’m thinking that I probably shouldn’t have slacked off so much. Because this whole list thing, it fails me.<\/p>\n
I have some things that I’d like to do in 2009 (finish our third floor, lose about ten pounds, somehow figure out a way to become a rock star). But I’m feeling pretty good about 2008. Despite it’s general level of suckiness for the rest of the world, 2008 was not so bad in terms of my personal accomplishments. I managed to (finally) finish my album, we bought a house and I transitioned into a new job that I find a lot more fun and rewarding.\u00a0<\/p>\n
So, what loose ends to I need to tie up? Well, I have about 6 books that I’m about three quarters of the way through and I need to finish. I have a bunch of stuff that I need to take care of for Christmas (cooking, baking, wrapping, mailing, perhaps there is a spare surface in our house that could be festooned with ribbons or other such sparkles). And I really ought to put up that chin-up bar that’s been sitting next to its future doorway since the weekend we moved in. Oh, and if I haven’t started on our Christmas cards by tomorrow, somebody please smack me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, I’ve somehow managed to let a lot of things go. I don’t know if it’s because the artwork and mastered tracks is at the CD duplication company (which means that I’ve taken care of everything that needs to be done on my end) or if it’s the fact that I finally managed to say no to a couple of recurring commitments that were dragging me down. But I’ve achieved a state of mind where I’m pretty sure that I have enough time to get everything done. And if I don’t have enough time? I’m pretty sure that I’m ok with that too.<\/p>\n
Despite the fact that we have 13 people coming here for Christmas dinner and I’ve got more projects to work on than I can remember, I also can’t remember the last time I was this relaxed before Christmas. Even the fact that several of my orders from amazon.com have apparently entered package purgatory hasn’t phased me that much.
