I would say that I’ve been trying to deny my status as an ill individual, but that would be a total lie. I spent pretty much all day on Monday in bed. Normally I like to at least acknowledge MLK Day, but I was too busy having fever dreams to think much about Dr. King’s dream. I’ll make it up to him on Colombus Day, I promise. Or you know, work for social justice and not just relegate thinking about racial inequalities to one day a year. But, hey, those are some heavy thoughts for someone who can’t hold her head up straight right now. I think that I will leave that for a day when I am less full of snot.<\/p>\n
The thing that most worries me is that I have a show tonight. It’s from 8-9, which is good I won’t have to stay up too late. And It’s short enough that I should be able to push my lungs and my throat and keep singing without losing my voice. My dad’s roommate told me last night that he knows a lot of singers that suck on a lemon before a show… so I tried swigging some lemon juice before practice last night. Seemed to work pretty well. I just might have to bring a bottle of it and do shots between songs!<\/p>\n
I was so desperate to feel better last night that I consumed an entire can of chicken noodle soup. Maybe not such a good thing for a vegetarian. So far, I’ve managed to avoid performing any stomach pyrotechnics… but I’m also not feeling any better, so I would say that the whole chicken soup experience has been a bit of a wash. Sorry little chickens… it would have been better to have been eaten by someone who would have at least appreciated your tastiness. If only you could have been bacon. Am I the only vegetarian who is still completely in love with bacon? <\/p>\n
