I suppose that the modern equivalent would be, “May you have an interesting flight.” Or, in our case, an interesting layover. As in, when we first got off the plane and into the terminal, it appeared as if the airport might have been on fire.<\/p>\n
I don’t know about you, but one of the very last sites that I want to see when entering an airport is the billowing of smoke and the gathering of emergency personnel. It’s a thing I have, this whole not wanting to be burnt to a crisp thing.<\/p>\n
Luckily for us, whatever caused all that smoke doesn’t appear to have been particularly explosive as we are currently sitting at our gate and haven’t been evacuated. The smoke appears to have subsided or at least dispersed around the terminal. It’s no longer smokey and is now simply stinking of burnt rubber. There’s nothing like the stench of burnt rubber to make you look forward to getting back into a tin can to be surrounded by crying babies and to pay for water. I cannot WAIT until we get to reboard.<\/p>\n
Because I am an idiot and because I know that people like pictures, I walked towards the scene of the smoke to take a photo. As you will be able to see as soon as I can figure out how to upload the photo, it was quite uneventful by the time I got there: not a lot of smoke and no real action. I suppose that means an unsuccessful curse. I’m cool with that. Now we just need to do something about the stink.<\/p>\n
And the fact that TCBY is out of chocolate.<\/p>\n
