So, here are some bits and pieces about how my life has been lately. Sorry to spew all all of my ADHD-like tendencies all over this poor, little blog.

I worked a lot of hours these past few weeks. A couple of Thursdays ago, I arrived at work around 7am and didn’t leave for home until 10pm or so. I’ve worked 12 hours days and 13 hour days in the past, but I don’t know that I’ve ever been at a place of employment for a solid 15 hours. Let’s just say that it’s a really good thing that I like my coworkers so much. In addition to my long day of longitude, I stayed late every other day that week.

I was all set to tell you that I can’t recommend 15 hour work days. And then I got my paycheck on Friday. I still can’t, in good conscience, recommend 15 hour work days. But I can tell you that it’s really nice to get an extra two days worth of pay.

Our wedding is in 41 days and I can’t shake the feeling that I’m forgetting something. I mean, everyone tells me how stressful wedding planning is supposed to be. And it really hasn’t been that bad. So, clearly, I must be missing something. Something big. Like, our guests are all going to arrive and I’m going to realize that, oh crap, we forgot to rent chairs for them to sit on.

I always get that vague feeling of dread before a big vacation. And then we arrive at our destination and I realize that I never packed any underwear.

What I’m saying is this: if you’re invited to our wedding, you might want to bring your own chairs and snacks. Just in case.

I took a standup paddleboard (SUP) lesson today and now I want to get one and then spend every weekend SUPing. I mean, SUP has to be the stupidest acronym of all time, but the sport itself is awesome. You basically tool around on a big surfboard, using a long paddle. It uses every single one of your muscles (as evidenced by the fact that they are all currently crying out in pain) and it’s just difficult enough to be a fun challenge but not so difficult as to make me give up in frustration. The instructor was impressed with my skills, although he strikes me as the type who’s impressed with everyone’s skills. He did mention that I was the first of his students to ever try a reverse pivot during their first ever lesson.

(He was kind enough to leave out the part where I fell in the water about halfway through said attempt).

I have been a terrible blog reader lately and an even more terrible commenter. And I apologize. With all of the OT that I’ve been working lately, it’s kindof amazing that I’ve (mostly) managed to regularly brush my teeth. I get home at night and all I want to do is go straight to bed. It doesn’t even occur to me that I could be hanging out on the internet. And they block google reader at work, so I can’t read/comment on my lunch break.

I have google reader down to less than a thousand feeds. I suppose that this means that I’m catching up. I’ve done some marking as read, but it’s all sites like FailBlog and STFU Parents. I will get to all of the personal entries eventually. Which means that, if any of you are pregnant, I’ll know all about it by the time your kid makes it to college.

(If any of you is pregnant, please leave a comment below so I’m not that asshole who waits too long to congratulate you).

I beat a ten-year-old in a foot race the other day. At least, I think he was ten. I didn’t stop to ask him his age. Because, you know, I was too busy beating him. In the race. On foot.

(Did I mention that I beat someone in a foot race?).

Also, everyone under the age of about 16 looks to be about the same age as me. For I am old.

(Sob).

I was out for a jog last week and, all of a sudden, I look over and there is a pre-teen boy running next to me. I couldn’t figure out what he was saying at first, but then I heard him yell “I’ll race you!” And then it was on like Donkey Kong. Because I’m competitive like that. I heard him yell “Woooooah!” and then I was gone baby, gone.

We’ll leave out the part where I slowed down a block later, completely winded and hating life. We’ll also leave out the part where I decided to run 3 miles instead of 4, because racing a small child took so much out of me. I won a race! Quite possibly the only race that I’ll ever win!

So, that’s pretty much the highlights reel. How have you all been? I suppose that, someday, I’ll read about it on your blogs.

In 15 years or so.

I’ve got so much to tell you all and so little energy to spend writing it all out.
