I’m done. D-O-N-E. Done.<\/p>\n
I should have taken the whole day off. I only have a half hour left at work and I am totally terrified that I’m going to fall asleep at my desk. I went to bed early last night (I’m a firm believer that they best thing that you can do before a big exam is to get a good night’s sleep) but I slept badly and I had nightmares about all of my teeth falling out (a classic anxiety dream). I always dream about my teeth rotting out of my head when I’m stressed. It’s like my dentist paid the Sandman to ensure that I wouldn’t ever forget to floss. <\/p>\n
Then, there was that whole three hour exam thing. Which, let’s be honest, can be just as exhausting as a bad night’s sleep. Three hours of writing essays. By hand. What is this, the stone ages? I write things out by hand so infrequently that I actually have to check and make sure that I have working pens in my bag before any big test. About an hour in, my hand cramped up and I thought that my pinkie finger was going to fall off. My professor claims that reading my essays is “a dream,” because I use print instead of cursive. All I can say is, if my handwriting is the most legible in the class, my fellow students must be writing with their toes. I have beautiful handwriting when I have the time to be careful, but when I’m trying to write as much out as I can? Let’s just say that it gives me a headache. I pity that man, who will decipher my chicken scratch handwriting only to come face to face with my half-baked ideas and opinions.<\/p>\n
Ok, maybe I’m being a little self-deprecating here. My handwriting really is horrible, but I think that my essays were actually pretty good. I was able to work a lot of what we learned in the class into my arguments. Although, to be honest, I felt like I was better prepared than my essays showed. When studying for this class, my strategy was to try and recognize themes and patterns. It was a History of Diplomacy class, so there were a lot of overarching ideas. I came up with a lot of great stuff in my head while I was studying. Unfortunately, none of the questions were conducive to showing off my theories. I was really hoping for a question about historical “accidents” (like the sinkings of the Maine and the Lusitania), because I had some great ideas about them. Unfortunately, that wasn’t one of the questions. Boo urns, it was even on the study guide.<\/p>\n
But, hey, I’m done! I won’t even have to think<\/i> about school until January 15th. When, you know, I find out if I got into grad school or not. No pressure or anything! <\/p>\n
The sad thing? I’m actually kind of sad that my class is over. I enjoyed it that much. I guess I really am a nerd.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
