We both signed up for the new Calorie Count Plus site to keep track of what we’re eating and to help keep each other motivated. One of the new features is a quiz to tell you what your diet profile is. I took the quiz and, apparently, I am an emotional eater.

I hadn’t thought about it that way. In my mind, stress + food = do not want! When I am stressed out or anxious, I want to stay as far away from food as possible. But, then I thought about it some more and I realized that when I’m feeling generally blah or blue, I do tend to crave sweets. Some candy here, a piece of chocolate there, it all adds up.

Another thing I realized is that I am an emotional feeder. By that I mean that my first inclination when someone isn’t doing well is to offer them food. It’s like I was an Italian grandmother in a past life. My Dad is going through a rough patch right now and we showed up at his place last night with sushi, popcorn, apple cider and grapefruit spritzer. We probably would have showed up with some chocolate and cookies as well, if Kristian hadn’t looked at me like I was insane after I put the spritzer in our cart.

So, if you’re sad, let me know and I will send you cookies. :p

Inspired by my friend Jennie (I may call her Jennie, you must call her Jenn), I started counting calories again.
