Mr. Richardson was my high school french teacher. Truthfully, he was one of many, but he taught me for the longest and he was the best. I still have fond memories of his classes and his requests for “petites histoires.”<\/p>\n
Tonight, I gave a short speech in French to the folks who were here for an event at the Priory. I say that Mr. Richardson would be proud, but in actuality, I think that he’d be a little bit disappointed that I needed help with my grammar. And a cheat sheet.<\/p>\n
Especially since it was a very <\/em>short speech.<\/p>\n I said:<\/p>\n “Bonsoir. Je m’appelle Hope (comme espoir). Je viens de Boston et je travail a la Tufts en informatique. Je suis venue pour mettre en route les ordinateurs du Prieure. Je suis musicienne – je chante et je joue de la guitare. Je suis tres contente do vous voir!”<\/p>\n Basically, “Hi. My name is Hope. I have a high school level french education. Please don’t mock me.”<\/p>\n And yet… they liked it!<\/p>\n Anyone who says that the French aren’t lovely people is either dead wrong or a liar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Mr. Richardson was my high school french teacher.
