Some of you might remember our neighbor Donald who likes to keep us all in line. Lately, Donald has taken to drawing on me like a cowboy whenever I leave the house. I try to draw on him first, but for an old dude, he’s pretty spry. He always gets me first. He promised to loan me some of his John Wayne DVD’s, though, so maybe I will learn some pointers from those.
Monday, I arrived home to find Kristian washing his car in the driveway, with Donald watching over him. I was on the phone with my older sister, so I left the two of them alone. As I continued to talk to my sister, I looked out the window to see Donald alternating between animatedly telling stories and inspecting Kristian’s work.
I finished up my conversation and headed outside. Kristian was drying his car and Donald was winding down his latest story. He told us about bringing six beer cans to a bottling plant and getting the workers to fill them up with Mountain Dew. Imagine his niece’s surprise when she came home from college, he offered her a beer and she got a mouth full of Mountain Dew!
I thanked Donald for supervising Kristian. He (Donald) did an excellent job, there wasn’t a spot on the car. He assured me that he was just doing his job. It’s nice to know, at the end of the day, that you have neighbors like Donald who will make sure that your boyfriend doesn’t cut any corners when washing his car.
