Some of you may remember that I posted a little while back about how awesome it is that my Grandmother has two tivos and knows how to use them. Well, my Grandmother has further proved that she is not a luddite by getting netflix. I think that’s just awesome.
Not that I necessarily equate going out and buying gadgets with (technical) intelligence. I’ve met plenty of people with smart phones and GPS units that I wouldn’t trust to think their way out of a paper bag. But, I do think that it’s really and truly great when someone from an older generation takes the time to learn some of the new technologies. Even if they’re just going to be using it to record every single episode of Law and Order (oh, like you don’t…).
Anyways, we had a great Easter down in Connecticut. My grandmother fed us and fed us until we could eat no more. And then she brought out the Easter candy. My one saving grace is that calories consumed at your grandparents’ house don’t count. They don’t, right? Right?!?! We ate chocolate, chocolate, some more chocolate, strawberry rhubarb pie, cupcakes, pineapple upside down cake…. I am going to be eating salad all week long. But, hey, it was worth it. It’s fun to be spoiled a little sometimes.
Calories consumed on Friday evening also do not count. And you should see what I’m recording on MY TiVO. Is everyone still watching LOST? Come on…it’s way cooler than Law and Order!! Tell Grandma she can be even COOLER if she watches LOST.
I have Netflix. I’m too intimidated to get TiVo. I’m so directionally challenged that if I was trapped in a big enough paper bag, I’d NEED GPS to find my way free.
