A Quick Update

Lilian and I had a doctor’s appointment on Monday (one of the advantages of sharing a doctor). She’s doing really well. She now weighs ten pounds and ten ounces. My baby is getting so big!

(I now have a newfound respect for women who birth 10+ pound babies).

If there’s one good thing about all of the health problems that I had during my pregnancy, it’s that we now know every single person who works at my doctor’s office. Verrrrry well. Probably a little too well. And they all just love Lilian to pieces. So, we never have to wait long for an appointment. They coo over her for a bit and then quickly put us in an exam room.

VIB: Very Important Baby

VIP status at the doctor’s office isn’t exactly impressive, but we live a quiet life these days. I’ll take my fun where I can get it.

I have now been officially weighed. It’s less than two hundred pounds, but still far from my starting weight. Which was already slightly higher than my ideal weight. I know what they say – nine months on, nine months off. But, I probably need to lose 15-20 pounds in order to fit into my work clothes, six weeks from now.

Why do I need to fit into my original work clothes, you ask? (Ok, maybe you didn’t ask… but I am still answering). They’re my clothes and I like wearing them. More importantly, they’re moderately expensive clothes (I’m expected to dress up for work) and I’m not getting another paycheck until mid-November.

Even with the extra 500 calories a day that I burn from breastfeeding, losing five pounds a week is probably not that realistic. I have a sneaking suspicion that Lilian and I will be doing some bargain shopping in late October.

But, hey, it’s all worth it. I get to spend my mornings having coffee out on the sunporch with my favorite munchkin.

It might be a quiet life, but its a nice one.

  • Your VIB is a very cute one, no wonder they adore her at your doctor’s office 🙂 I hope both of you will enjoy the quiet time together until you go back to work.

  • Your weight gain sounds just like mine was! I did stroller strides workout group every weekday morning starting when she was 8 weeks old, but even then I didn’t start feeling like myself until 6 months. (I wasn’t eating too strict though, so next time around that’s my plan). You don’t appreciate the BF calories until its over (and my weight started to creep back up!) So if you do a strict diet- with the BFing you should be fine to getting back into your work clothes. Good luck! She is such a sweetie pie! Very photogenic 🙂

  • awwww, I love when they fall asleep on your chest like that. So sweet

  • I am soaking up every minute of it!

  • I’m not quite ready for stroller strides, but I hope I get there soon. I’m thinking in a week or two I’ll be able to do some workouts besides walking. I think I could swim, but I’d have to find someone to hang out with Miss L while I was in the pool.

I haven’t been strict about eating, but my husband is about to do a biggest loser challenge at work and that should get him to stop bringing home sweets!

  • Sometimes it’s the only way that she’ll sleep! My doctor said to not let her get used to it… but I love it when she sleeps on me like that!

  • B.

I’m sure you are going to hit your goal. But for now, definitely soak up all the time with your little miss! ^_^
