Hey, do you remember me? I’m that girl that used to post in a blog here. Life got a little busy. Let’s put it this way…. my boss is not allowed to have emergency surgery right before the busiest two weeks of our working year anymore. Seriously.
So, anyways, it was my birthday yesterday. Kristian set the bar pretty high last year. How do you top a perfectly planned birthday evening and a little blue box? Answer: the most embarrassing birthday song at a restaurant ever (it involved a waitress blowing bubbles on my head and then me kissing a candle-holder shape like a frog), followed by an evening at my favorite karaoke bar, where Kristian got them to start karaoke an hour early so that we could sing a few extra songs. Have I mentioned how much I love that man?
In addition to planning the perfect birthday party, Kristian also bought me the ice cream maker attachment for my kitchen aid mixer. We made mint cookie ice cream the other night. It was so unbelievably delicious. I’ve lost almost 10 pounds since April, here’s hoping that this doesn’t slow down my progress. At any rate, it will be a most delicious impediment!
Karaoke was a blast last night. I think that the highlight of the evening was when my friend Josh and I sang “Barbie Girl” … he was Barbie. I was Ken.
It was great, we got up there, the DJ queued up the song and everyone groaned when they saw the song title pop up on the screen. You could almost see everything thinking at the same time, “oh great, another girl thinking that she’ll be cute.” The groans all turned to laughter as Josh said, in his best falsetto, “Hi Ken, you wanna go for a ride?” The DJ didn’t really know what to make of it.
I am currently sitting on the couch with our cats, watching the football game. Kristian is outside, painting the porch. Life is feeling pretty good right now.
Happy b-day!
Happy birthday! It sounds like you had a great one. I wish there was video of Barbie Girl, that sounds like an entertaining performance!
Happiest of birthdays, Hope. Enjoy all of the ice cream. I wish I could have seen the Barbie Girl performance.
belated Happy birthday.
What? No karaoke video?
Got it…no more surgery the busiest two weeks of the year; I’ll see what I can do. If you could send my body a note about that, I would appreciate it more than you know.
Glad you had a great birthday…can’t wait to try that ice cream! 😛
I’m late…but Happy Birthday!!
